Ingredients

  • 4 Packed cups of freshly foraged delicately rinsed, and hand-wrung dandelion blossoms.
  • 2 Cups of cooked and artfully drained black beans or repurposed leftover cooked beans from your culinary adventures.
  • 1 Cup of organic cereal such as ethereal fruit-infused corn flakes.
  • 2/3 Cup of all-purpose flour finely sifted for a velvety texture.
  • 1 Heaping teaspoon each of vibrant turmeric aromatic thyme, earthy sage, fragrant basil, and garlic powder. Alternatively, use about the same amount of your favorite flavoring herbs and spices, handpicked from your herb garden.
  • 2 Large eggs or four smaller ones, each one a golden treasure from happy hens.
  • 2 Cups of perfectly cooked and fluffed brown rice or any other luscious cooked whole grain from your culinary treasure trove.
  • 12 Whole dandelion blossoms carefully reserved for an artistic touch.
  • 1/2 Cup of nutritional yeast a secret ingredient for a burst of umami.
  • 4 Teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil plus a little more for gracefully oiling the baking sheet.
  • 1 Teaspoon each of pristine sea salt and freshly ground pepper.

Instructions

Prepare Dandelion Blossoms:

  • Carefully rinse the freshly foraged dandelion blossoms, ensuring they are free from dirt. Hand-wring them to remove excess moisture. Set aside the reserved whole blossoms for an artistic touch.

Mash Black Beans:

  • In a large bowl, mash the cooked black beans using a fork or potato masher. Leave some texture for added bite.

Mix Ingredients:

  • Add the hand-wrung dandelion blossoms, cooked brown rice, organic cereal, nutritional yeast, all-purpose flour, turmeric, thyme, sage, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the mashed black beans. Mix well to combine.

Add Olive Oil and Egg:

  • Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the mixture and add the large egg (or two smaller ones). Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Form Patties:

  • Divide the mixture into burger-sized portions. Shape each portion into a patty using your hands.

Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Oil Baking Sheet:

  • Lightly oil a baking sheet with extra virgin olive oil to prevent sticking.

Bake:

  • Place the formed dandelion burger patties on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 20-25 minutes or until the burgers are golden brown and cooked through.

Artistic Touch:

  • During the last few minutes of baking, delicately place the reserved whole dandelion blossoms on top of each burger for an artistic touch. Allow them to wilt slightly in the oven.

Serve:

  • Once done, carefully transfer the dandelion burgers to a serving plate. Serve with your favorite burger fixings, such as buns, lettuce, tomato, or your preferred condiments.

Notes

• For a crispier patty, pan-fry the burgers in a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat.
• To make the burgers vegan, substitute vegetable broth for the olive oil.
• To make the burgers gluten-free, substitute gluten-free flour for the almond flour.
• To add some heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mixture.
• To add some sweetness, add a tablespoon of honey to the mixture.
• To add some smokiness, add a tablespoon of smoked paprika to the mixture.
