Equipment

  • Tea pot

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tablespoon of finely grated ginger root sourced from the heart of a spice bazaar, where the aroma of exotic spices dances in the air.
  • 2 tablespoons of raw golden honey, harvested from the sun-kissed fields of a local apiary, or to your discerning taste.
  • 1 and 3/4 cups of boiling water drawn from the depths of a mountain spring, capturing the crisp purity of nature’s elixir in each revitalizing drop.
  • 1/2 freshly-squeezed lemon vibrant and zesty, juiced with care to extract the essence of sunshine from its citrusy pores.
  • 1/8 teaspoon of ground cinnamon a pinch of warmth and nostalgia, hand-harvested from the finest Ceylon cinnamon trees.

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Ensure you have high-quality raw honey from a local apiary.
  • Squeeze the juice from half a fresh lemon, making sure to remove any seeds.
  • Finely grate the ginger root until you have 1/2 tablespoon.
  • Measure 1/8 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  • Boil 1 3/4 cups of water.

Combine Ingredients:

  • In a teapot or heat-resistant container, combine the 2 tablespoons of raw honey, freshly squeezed lemon juice, finely grated ginger root, and ground cinnamon.

Add Boiling Water:

  • Pour the 1 3/4 cups of boiling water over the honey, lemon, ginger, and cinnamon mixture. Be cautious with hot water to prevent burns.

Stir and Steep:

  • Gently stir the mixture to ensure the honey is dissolved and the ingredients are well combined.
  • Allow the tea to steep for about 5-7 minutes. This allows the flavors to infuse and the ginger to release its therapeutic properties.

Strain (Optional):

  • If you prefer a smoother tea, you can strain the tea to remove ginger particles or any other solids. Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • Pour the ginger lemon honey tea into your favorite mug.
  • Take a moment to inhale the delightful aroma before sipping.
  • Sip the warm tea slowly, allowing its soothing properties to help alleviate your sore throat.

Adjust to Taste (Optional):

  • Taste the tea and adjust the sweetness or tartness by adding more honey or lemon juice according to your preference.

Notes

• To make this recipe even more refreshing, you can add a few slices of cucumber to the mixture before boiling.
• You can also add a few slices of lemon or lime to the tea for an extra zing.
• If you don’t have fresh ginger, you can substitute ground ginger.
• You can also add a pinch of turmeric for an extra boost of anti-inflammatory properties.
• If you don’t have honey, you can substitute maple syrup or agave syrup.
• You can also add a few drops of essential oil, such as peppermint or eucalyptus, for an extra boost of flavor.
