Equipment

  • bowl
  • oven

Ingredients

  • 1 pack vanilla sugar
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 350 g Flour
  • 1 pack baking powder
  • 1 cup yogurt

Instructions

Step 1: Mixing the Dry Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and vanilla sugar. Whisk the dry ingredients together until well incorporated.

Step 2: Preparing the Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Add the oil and yogurt, then whisk until smooth and homogeneous.

Step 3: Bringing It All Together

  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring gently to form a soft dough. Use your hands to knead the dough gently until it comes together.

Step 4: Shaping the Dough

  • Divide the dough into small portions and roll each into balls. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart to allow for expansion.

Step 5: Baking the Gurabija

  • Preheat the oven to the recommended temperature. Bake the Gurabija in the preheated oven until golden brown and fragrant, ensuring not to overbake them.

Notes

-Use Full-Fat Yogurt: Opt for full-fat yogurt to achieve a richer, more tender texture in your Gurabija.
– Chill the Dough: For enhanced flavor and easier handling, refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes before shaping and baking.
– Watch Closely During Baking:Keep a close eye on your Gurabija while they bake to ensure they don’t become too dark or overly crisp.
-Experiment with Flavors: Feel free to customize your Gurabija by adding citrus zest, nuts, or spices to the dough for a unique twist.
– Store in Airtight Containers: Preserve the freshness of your Gurabija by storing them in airtight containers at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
