Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the evaporated milk, sugar, star anise, and cinnamon sticks. Heat on medium heat until it starts to simmer.
Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and let it steep for about 5 minutes.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and salt until well combined.
Slowly add the cocoa mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly until fully incorporated and smooth.
Continue heating on low for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Optional: For an extra special touch, top off your hot chocolate with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg.
