Equipment

  • Tall glass

Ingredients

  • 260 mL Brewed Black Tea
  • 30 mL Salted Caramel Syrup
  • 30 mL Instant Milk Powder
  • 15 mL Vanilla Extract
  • 10 mL Honey
  • 30 mL Cooked Tapioca Pearls

Instructions

Step 1: Brew the Black Tea

  • Start by brewing your black tea. You want it strong, so let it steep for about 5-7 minutes. Once it’s done, let it cool to room temperature. This step is crucial to avoid melting the ice cubes prematurely.

Step 2: Prepare the Tapioca Pearls

  • While your tea is cooling, cook the tapioca pearls according to the package instructions. Usually, this involves boiling them for about 5 minutes until they’re translucent and chewy. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

Step 3: Mix the Milk Base

  • Combine the instant milk powder with a small amount of water to make a smooth, thick milk base. You’ll need about 30mL of the reconstructed milk.

Step 4: Add Sweeteners

  • Now comes the fun part. Mix in the salted caramel syrup, vanilla extract, and honey into your brewed tea. Stir well to ensure everything dissolves completely.

Step 5: Combine Everything

  • In a tall glass, add a generous handful of ice cubes. Pour the sweetened tea mixture over the ice. Then, add the milk mixture and give it a good stir. Finally, top it off with the cooked tapioca pearls.

Step 6: Serve

  • Your salted caramel milk tea is ready to be served! Use a wide straw so you can easily slurp up those tapioca pearls.

Notes

Here are some tips to make your salted caramel milk tea even more delightful:
  • Use Freshly Brewed Tea: For the best flavor, always use freshly brewed tea. Stale tea can make the drink taste flat.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Feel free to adjust the amount of salted caramel syrup and honey based on your taste.
  • Hot Variation: If you prefer a warm version, simply skip the ice cubes.
  • Tapioca Substitution: If you don’t have tapioca pearls, try using small sago pearls or even jelly cubes.
  • Quality Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients can make or break this recipe. Opt for premium black tea and high-quality caramel syrup.
