Ingredients

  • 2 pound ground beef
  • 10 oz. Portuguese sausage
  • 2 can pinto beans
  • 2 can red kidney beans
  • 2 cup chicken broth
  • 8 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 can tomato sauce
  • 4 tsp. chili powder
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup onion finely chopped
  • 2 pc. green bell pepper chopped
  • 8 pcs. celery chopped
  • 2 tbsp. cumin
  • 2 tbsp. oregano
  • 4 pcs. bay leaves

Instructions

  • In a large pan, heat 4 tsp of vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onions, green bell peppers, and celery to the pan and sauté for 5 minutes or until they become soft.
  • Add 2 pounds of ground beef and 10 oz of Portuguese sausage to the pan, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
  • Once the meat is fully cooked, drain any excess grease from the pan.
  • Add 2 cups of chicken broth, 2 cans of pinto beans, and 2 cans of red kidney beans to the pan. Stir to combine.
  • Add 2 cans of tomato sauce, 4 tsp of chili powder, 2 tbsp of brown sugar, 1 cup of mayonnaise, 2 tbsp of cumin, and 2 tbsp of oregano to the pan. Stir to combine.
  • Add 4 bay leaves to the pan and let simmer for 30 minutes over low heat.
  • Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Zippy’s Chili!

Notes

• If you like spicy food, add extra chili powder.
• For a smoky flavor, add a teaspoon of smoked paprika.
• To make it even heartier, add a can of drained and rinsed kidney beans.
• To make it vegetarian, substitute the ground beef for crumbled tofu.
• To make it creamier, add a cup of plain Greek yogurt.
