In a separate smaller bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sugar, salt and pepper, apple cider vinegar and buttermilk.
Pour the dressing over the vegetables and mix well until all the ingredients are evenly coated.
Add more salt and pepper to taste, if needed.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
Serve chilled as a side dish or snack alongside your favorite barbecue dishes.
Notes
For a healthier version, you can substitute the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt or a combination of mayo and yogurt.
Add more vegetables such as shredded broccoli, bell peppers, or radishes for extra crunch and flavor.
For added flavor, consider adding some shredded cheese or crumbled bacon to the coleslaw.
For a healthier option, you can use Greek yogurt in place of mayonnaise.
You can also add other vegetables such as bell peppers or broccoli to the coleslaw for added nutrition and flavor.
If preparing ahead of time, wait until just before serving to mix the dressing with the vegetables to prevent the coleslaw from becoming soggy.
