- 2 Large Green Tomato
- 2 Tablespoon of white lily flour
- 6 tablespoons of buttermilk
- Salt and pepper as per taste
- 2 Tablespoon of cornmeal
- Cooking oil
Slice the green tomatoes into 1/4 inch slices and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, flour, cornmeal, salt and pepper. Mix well until there are no lumps in the batter.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Dip each tomato slice into the batter, making sure it is evenly coated.
Carefully place the battered tomato slices into the hot oil and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
Remove the fried green tomatoes from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy as is!
• Make sure to use fresh, ripe green tomatoes for this recipe.
• Be sure not to crowd the pan when frying the tomatoes, as this will cause them to steam instead of fry.
• You can store the fried green tomatoes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
