2
cup
water
4
cloves
chopped garlic
1
chopped onion
1
teaspoon
sugar

Instructions
In a heavy bottom pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Add chopped onion and cook until soft.
Add chopped garlic and cook for another minute.
Add smoked ham hocks, turnip greens, water, sugar, and salt to the pot.
Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 45 minutes.
Check the tenderness of the turnip greens by poking them with a fork.
Once they are tender, remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
Serve the Cracker Barrel Turnip Greens hot as a side dish to your favorite main course.
Notes
Be sure to wash and chop the turnip greens before cooking.
If you can’t find smoked ham hocks, you can use bacon or a ham bone instead.
For added flavor, you can also add a bay leaf or red pepper flakes to the pot while cooking.
Make sure to check the tenderness of the turnip greens before removing from heat. Overcooking can make them mushy and unappetizing.
