Equipment

  • bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang Korean fermented chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 spicy minced red pepper
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • Black pepper as per taste

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, gochujang, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, minced red pepper, garlic, honey or brown sugar, fresh ginger, red pepper flakes and black pepper.
  • Whisk the ingredients until well combined.
  • Place your desired cut of beef in a sealable bag or container and pour the marinade over it.
  • Allow the meat to marinate for at least 2 hours, or for best results, overnight in the refrigerator.
  • When ready to cook, remove the meat from the marinade and discard any excess sauce.
  • Cook the meat as desired, either on a grill, stovetop or in the oven.
  • For added flavor, brush the meat with some of the reserved marinade while cooking.
  • Once cooked to your liking, let the meat rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

• It is important to use low sodium soy sauce for this recipe. This will help to keep the sodium content down and ensure that the marinade is not too salty.
• You can also use low sodium beef broth in place of the soy sauce. This will add additional flavor and help to keep the sodium content low.
• You can use any type of beef for this recipe. Steak, ground beef, and stir fry beef are all great options.
• If you want to add additional flavor to the marinade, you can also add a few tablespoons of honey or mirin.
• If you want to add some heat to the marinade, you can add a few dashes of chili flakes or chili paste.
• If you want to make the marinade a little spicier, you can add a few dashes of gochujang (Korean red pepper paste).
• You can also add a few tablespoons of sesame seeds to the marinade for additional flavor and texture.
