- 4 pounds 80% lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup minced white onion
- 2 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 6 32- ounce cans refrigerated Pillsbury Grands Southern Homestyle Original Biscuits
- 4 cups bagged grated Cheddar cheese about 16 ounces
- 4 cups thawed frozen shredded hash browns
- 2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper plus more as needed
- 8 tablespoons 1 stick salted butter, melted
- All-purpose flour for the work surface
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, stirring occasionally.
In the same pan, add in the olive oil and onions, and cook until the onions are translucent.
Season with Kosher salt and set aside to cool.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out each biscuit into a 6-inch circle.
Place the rolled out biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
In a separate bowl, mix together the cooked ground beef, Cheddar cheese, hash browns, garlic salt, and black pepper.
Place about 2 tablespoons of filling onto one half of each biscuit circle, leaving a small border around the edges.
Fold the other half of the biscuit over to make a semi-circle shape, and press the edges together to seal.
Brush each Fatayer with melted butter, and sprinkle some extra black pepper on top if desired.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm and enjoy!
• If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
• If the dough is too dry, add a little more water.
• Substitute feta cheese with any other type of cheese, such as ricotta or goat cheese.
• Substitute fresh herbs with dried herbs.
• Add other fillings to the Fatayer, such as mushrooms, onions, or olives.
• You can also brush the dough with butter instead of olive oil.
