Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour – 2.5 gram
  • Dates – 600 gram
  • Boiling water- 2 cup
  • Butter- 8 teaspoon
  • Walnuts – 2 cup
  • Egg- 2
  • Baking soda- 2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder – 2 teaspoon
  • Salt- 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar- 2 cup

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (177 Celsius).
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, dates, boiling water, butter, walnuts, egg, baking soda and baking powder. Mix everything together until it forms a thick batter.
  • Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with butter or oil. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it evenly. Sprinkle some sugar on top for extra sweetness if desired.
  • Bake the bread for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Once done, remove from the oven and let cool before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Notes

• Make sure to use ripe, soft dates for this recipe. If your dates are dry, you can soak them in hot water for 10 minutes to soften them.
• If you don’t have whole wheat flour, you can substitute it with all-purpose flour or a combination of all-purpose and whole wheat flour.
• You can use any type of nut you like in this recipe. Almonds, walnuts, and hazelnuts are all great choices.
• You can substitute the butter with coconut oil or vegetable oil.
• To make this recipe vegan, substitute the milk with a non-dairy milk like almond or coconut milk.
• For a sweeter bread, increase the amount of sugar by 1-2 tablespoons.
