- 1 cups all purpose flour
- 0.5 large egg
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter softened
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoons milk
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.13 teaspoon almond extract
- 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.25 cup sprinkles
In a medium-sized bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a larger mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add in the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix until well combined.
Slowly add in the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in the sprinkles using a spatula or wooden spoon.
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Using a cookie scoop or spoon, portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each cookie.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The center will still be soft but they will firm up as they cool.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve and enjoy your delicious publix sugar cookies!
- Make sure your butter is softened at room temperature. This will ensure an even distribution and a smooth dough.
- Do not overmix the dough once you add in the dry ingredients. Overmixing can result in tough and dense cookies.
- You can customize these cookies with any mix-ins you like. Just make sure to fold them in gently so as not to crush them.
- Refrigerating the dough before baking is important as it allows the flavors to develop and prevents the cookies from spreading too much while baking.
- For extra flavor, you can brown your butter before adding it to the cookie dough.
